Mark's Story
Life
Laurie Schroeder and I married in 1982. We moved to Durham, NC in 83 and remained there until 93 when we moved to the Nashville, TN area. We now live in Mount Juliet, TN. We have three sons: Christian, Mark, and Geoffrey. Chris is a Sr Graphic Design major at UT, Mark is a Soph at Auburn, Geoffrey is a Sr in high school. I'm a family nurse practitioner, with a MSN from Vanderbilt. My civilian job is with Occupatonal Health at Vanderbilt University.
Military
I was Regular Army, enlisted/NCO from 75-79. Reup'ed in the Army Reserve in 81 and served through 84 before getting out. I accepted a commision in the Army Nurse Corps in Dec 89 and started drilling again in Jan 90-just in time to be mobilized for Desert Shield/Storm Aug 90-Jun 91. Much to my chagrin I served my time at Ft Bragg, NC. I stayed in the Reserve and have been assigned to the 3274th USAH, 377th CHS, 4206th USAH, 8th BN/5th BDE/100th DIV(IT) and 332nd MED BDE. includes basic training, AIT, BNCOC, Officers Basic, Officers Advanced, Company/Detachment Precommand Course, Combat Casualty Care Course, Combat Trauma Nurse Course, Combined Arms Services Support School, Command and General Staff Officers Course, Army Instructors Course, & Small Group Facilitator Course. I was Assistant Chief Nurse of the 332nd MED BDE when I was again mobilized Aug 04 for Operation Enduring Freedom and served at Ft Dix, NJ where I was OIC of the Case Management Section, Primary Care Manager/Provider for the Medical Hold Company, OIC and Primary medical provider for the Foward Operating Base TIGER Troop Medical Clinic, and OIC of the DET 18,7233rd MSU. I was released from active duty Aug 06. I hold AOC of 66H5K (medical surgical nurse/total army schools system instructor) and 66P (family nurse practitioner). I was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel Oct 06 and assumed Command of the 7239th Medical Support Unit, Chattanooga, TN Mar 07.
